Sayre Fire: School response to air quality

Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District
Acton-Agua Dulce schools are unaffected by smoke at this time and are under no inclement weather condition. If smoke drifts to the Acton-Agua Dulce area, school officials may make changes during the day.

Castaic Union School District
Schools in the Castaic Union School District are restricting outside activities today and checking individual schools for smoke-related problems in the air and heating systems, said Jamie Garcia, district director of facilities.

Newhall School District
Newhall schools are under inclement weather conditions today. PE classes and recess are not being held due to smoke from the Sayre Fire.

Saugus Union School District
Saugus School District schools are observing the AQMD recommendation to limit physical activities today.

Sulfur Springs Union School District
Sulfur Springs Union School District are observing the inclement weather. No outside activities will take place.

William S. Hart Union High School District
Santa Clarita air quality is compromised and precautions are being taken district wide to ensure student safety, said Greg Lee, Hart District director of athletics.

"All Hart District schools shall refrain from strenuous outdoor activity," he said.

PE classes will stay indoors and brunch and lunch intramural activities are suspended for the day.

Lee anticipates after-school practice will take place but an evaluation will take place this afternoon to make a final determination.
