A new gym and day spa for women will be opening soon in Santa Clarita after the Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve a permit for the Total Woman Gym & Day Spa this week.

The Total Woman Gym & Day Spa will be located in the old Mervyn's building in Valencia's River Oaks Shopping Center.

The full service spa will offer a fitness component with a variety of classes, said Elizabeth Caputo, director of development, real estate, and construction for Total Woman Gym & Day Spa.

Personal training will be available, as well as group fitness classes such as kick boxing, Zumba and power yoga.

The Westlake Village-based company has been in business for 46 years and is planning to open some five to eight locations each year, including an expansion into Northern California.

The pre-sale office - at 27069 McBean Parkway - for gym and day spa membership will open on March 1, while the company plans to open the permanent facility - at 24245 Magic Mountain Parkway - in June, Caputo said.
