SCCS 3, Lucerne Valley 2
25-23, 25-19, 24-26, 19-25, 15-13

Santa Clarita Christian School waited for the serve, needing only one point in the fifth and final game.
As the serve hit the net, the Cardinals were propelled to the semifinals of the CIF-Southern Section playoffs.

Leading the way for SCCS was Kristina Gibson with 11 kills, 12 digs, five aces and one block.

Kaley Morrison finished with nine kills, 11 digs, five aces and eight blocks.

Karla Everlein had nine kills, six digs, one ace and 15 blocks while K.D. Gwinn tallied six kills and two aces, and Joanna Masopust racked up 38 assists.

The Cardinals needed one point in the third game to win the match when shades of their Nov. 5 loss to Milken Community crept in.

In the loss, SCCS was on the verge of closing out the match when the Wildcats were able to storm back and take the final three games.

On Saturday, the Cardinals were able to re-focus and take out Lucerne Valley and now await the winner of Xavier Prep and Coastal Christian.

"I was really proud of them because they never gave up," said SCCS head coach Darcy Brown. "They
fought hard and they really dug deep. They knew what they had to do and they got it done."

They will play again on Tuesday at 7 p.m., the site to be determined on Monday.
