Happy Valentine’s Day on Tuesday. I hope you’ve all ordered your Singing Valentines from www.SCMenofHarmony.com.

It seems that summer made an early appearance this past week in the SCV. Really? Really? It’s only February. Don’t we have enough summer? I want my winter back.

Anthony Bourdain is tasty treat at PAC

Anthony Bourdain, the “bad boy” of the culinary world, gave a sold-out house at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center their money’s worth and more during his appearance Thursday night.

Bourdain is the host of the popular television series “No Reservations” seen on the Travel Channel.

The event, held on the Valencia campus of College of the Canyons, was among the best I’ve seen at the PAC. Kudos to Adam Philipson, managing director of the PAC, for booking such a great guest. I’d like to see more events at the PAC like the Bourdain talk.

Culinary Arts Capital Campaign

Kudos to the leadership at College of the Canyons for their forward-thinking campaign to build a Culinary Arts Center on the campus of COC.

Co-chairs of the campaign are Diana Cusumano and Blair Salisbury. The campaign manager is Murray Wood, chief development officer for the COC Foundation.

A book-signing and meet-and-greet with Bourdain was held after the PAC appearance. A gracious Bourdain spent time chatting, signing books and taking photos with each attendee at the special event held to benefit the Culinary Arts Capital Campaign.

The after concert event was also sold out at $75 a ticket.

Guests were treated to exquisite food prepared by students and chef-instructors of the Culinary Arts program at COC.
