Santa Clarita Valley Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of all ages came together for the annual Scout Sunday Mass celebrated Feb. 6 at St. Clare Catholic Church in Canyon Country.
Scouts assisted with altar serving, ushering, readings and announcements, the music ministry and the bringing of offertory gifts. The scouts also provided a color guard at the beginning of Mass.
Six Cub Scouts were recognized for completion of their religious emblems. Father Olin Mayfield presented Joseph Avila with the Light of Christ emblem that can be earned by first- and second-grade scouts.
Steven Argo, Colby Bangasser, Zach Cashin, Andreas Meier-Nava and Adrian Santos Ramirez were presented with the Parvuli Dei emblem for scouts in grades 3-5.
St. Clare is the chartering organization for both Troop 58 and Pack 58. Mike Johnson, Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 58 and John Vahl, Cubmaster for Pack 58, presented Ed Hoover, the charter organization representative, with their charters. The scouts hosted hospitality out on the plaza after Mass.
