The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce and Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital sponsored a celebration for Dr. Samuel Kojoglanian of Newhall as Santa Clarita's first board certified Interventional Cardiologist and the grand opening of his "Mender of Hearts" offices Nov. 7.

"Interventional cardiologist means I get to open up heart arteries and peripheral arteries with balloons and stints, so in a sense I get to mend hearts and make people feel better," Kojoglanian said.

U.S. Rep. Buck McKeon (R-Santa Clarita), Mayor Bob Kellar, police officers, doctors, friends and family attended the event. Many smiled as Kojoglanian cut the red ribbon outside his office.

The event also served as a celebration of Kojoglanian's fifth book, "Tommie Bear Goes to School," his second children's book that addresses the issue of bullying.
