Terry and Carl Kanowsky enjoy fine wine, good food and giving back to the Santa Clarita Valley.

The Kanowskys founded an event that combines all three of their passions in an annual fundraiser to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of SCV.

The fourth annual wine tasting will be held March 21 on the patio at Salt Creek Grille in Valencia.

The event will feature Siduri wines — a highly-acclaimed Sonoma winery, specializing in ultra-premium pinot noir.

“I love Siduri wine,” said Terry Kanowsky. “They make some of the best pinot noirs. It’s a fun winery to visit.”

Kanowsky said the event is an important fundraiser  for the Boys & Girls Club.

“The club needs all the support they can get,” she said. “This event helps keep some of the club programs in place.”

Adam and Diana Lee, owners and winemakers of Siduri will be offering some of their best wine at the event, which will also feature Siduri’s sister label, Novy wines.

Leading the tasting will be Adam Lee.  Lee is from  Texas, with a background in wine retailing. The Lees launched the Siduri label with a 1994 vintage and soon gained a following for their pinot noir wines.

Offered at the tasting will be a 2010 Novy Willamette Valley Blanc de Pinot Noir, 2010 Siduri Chehalem Mountains Pinot Noir, 2010 Siduri Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir, 2010 Siduri Rosella’s Vineyard Pinot Noir, 2009 Novy Rosella’s Vineyard Syrah and a Novy dessert wine.

The wines will be paired with a small plate menu crafted by Tamra Levine of Salt Creek Grille Catering.

Among the paired food offerings will be a Salmon Mousse Napoleon, Demitasse of Roasted Fennel and White Bean Dip, Vol au Vent with Mushroom Ragout, Moroccan Chicken Skewer with Herb Sauce and Beef “Stroganoff” Ravioli.

“We appreciate the Kanowskys for hosting this event,” said Jim Ventress, chief professional officer of the Boys & Girls Club of SCV. “There are a couple of thousand kids that depend on us to be there. This is a fun event that helps us keep up the quality of our programs.”

Carl Kanowsky said the event will also feature one-of-a-kind items donated by the Lees which includes  private tastings and a complete flight of all of the Pinot Noirs currently offered by Siduri in a special presentation.

“These are items you can’t get anywhere else,” said Carl Kanowsky.

Kanowsky said he is hoping the event will equal the $26,000 raised from last year’s Baldwin event.

“We love wine, and we love the Boys & Girls Club,” said Carl Kanowsky. Two of  the Kanowskys three sons attended the club.

“They do wonderful things at the club,” said Carl Kanowsky.
