The spectacular Westridge home of Jeff and Kim Greiner  recently served as the backdrop for the annual Guardians of Hope appreciation party.
Guardians of Hope is a fund established by the Santa Clarita Child & Family Center.
“Dollars given to Guardians are so important because they go directly to client services — not to overhead,” said Lois Bauccio, president and executive director of the Child & Family Center Foundation. “The majority of funds received from public agencies, such as the county and state, come with restrictions, and so Guardians was begun to fill in the gaps for individual, unique people who don’t qualify for services under other guidelines but who need services.”
The Child & Family Center provides mental health, behavioral and educational services to children, adults and families in the Santa Clarita Valley.
“We are serving 850 people each week at the Center,” said Bauccio. “The stories are heartbreaking.”
Bauccio said the Guardians recently kicked off their campaign for 2012.
Guardians of Hope raised $130,000 in 2011.
“This money is important to help people who are in danger of falling through the cracks,” Bauccio said.
Darrell Paulk, president and CEO of the Child & Family Center thanked the Greiners for their support.
“We appreciate that the Greiners agreed to host this party to assist in the mission for the Child & Family Center,” Paulk said. “The mission of the Child & Family Center is  to provide hope and help by building healthy mind, healthy families and a healthy community in the Santa Clarita Valley.”
The event offered guests a champagne welcome with music by Mark LeVang and Friends, as well as refreshments and hors d’oeuvres
Cheri Fleming served as the 2011 Community Chairwoman and Bill Cooper served as Leadership Chairman. Fleming will also serve as 2012 Community Chairwoman.
“I think that we are so fortunate to have the Child and Family Center in the Santa Clarita Valley, and Don and I have always supported the great work of strengthening families that is accomplished there,” Fleming said. “The money raised for Guardians of Hope is the most important charitable gift any of us can make with 100 percent of the funds raised going directly to help people. The stories are truly compelling, and I invite everyone to please join me in supporting Guardians of Hope.”
