Two former Hart High pitching teammates are rated high in MLB.com’s 2012 Top 100 prospect list.

Right-handed pitcher Trevor Bauer appeared as the No. 9 prospect and left-hander Mike Montgomery is listed at No. 31 on the list, which was released Wednesday.

After wrapping up a highly decorated, three-year career at UCLA, Bauer was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks third overall in the first round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft last June.

Following his junior year at UCLA, during which the 21-year-old went 13-2 with a 1.25 ERA, he won the 2011 Golden Spikes Award — given annually to the best college player in the nation.

So far, Bauer has started just three regular season games and played in seven at the minor league level with both the Class A-Advanced Visalia Rawhide and the Double-A Mobile Bay Bears.

He’s 1-2 with a 5.96 ERA in the regular season, and he also started two playoff games with the Bay Bears, going 1-1 with 9.00 ERA.

Montgomery, 22, went 5-11 with a 5.32 ERA in Triple-A Omaha last season for the Kansas City Royals organization.
He was drafted by the Royals 36th overall in the 2008 Amateur Draft.

Others on the Top 100 list include No. 1-rated Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Matt Moore and No. 3-rated Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout, both of whom saw limited time in the Major Leagues last year.
