New library opens to serve Castaic, Val Verde

Los Angeles County officials joined more than 100 members of the Castaic and Val Verde communities to mark the opening of he new Castaic Library.

 

Los Angeles County officials joined more than 100 members of the Castaic and Val Verde community to mark the opening of the new Castaic Library located at 27971 Sloan Canyon Road.

The nearly 7,000-square-foot library features 22 public computers, wireless connectivity, a children's book collection, homework center and teen space, Internet and computer access and dedicated reading areas.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich and County Librarian Margaret Donnellan Todd joined the community at the opening.

"In addition to the 20,000 books, magazines, audio books, computers and other educational materials, this vital facility will provide young people with access to a central community facility for study and research," Antonovich said.

The library will be open six days a week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, from noon to 5 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Three full-time and eight part-time employees will staff the library.
