Placerita Junior High invites the public to attend its sixth annual FIRST Lego League Robotics competition from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 16, at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Event tickets are available for a reduced park admission rate of $25. The park will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, is an organization which designs accessible, innovative programs to motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math," said Bonnie Shepard, event publicity coordinator.

"The program builds confidence, knowledge, and life skills. Placerita is one of the first middle schools in the valley to host a robotics program."

Teams will be judged in four areas including research, performance, design and teamwork, and will compete for uniquely designed trophies.

This year, Placerita Junior High has 24 students competing led by teacher and coach Paul Kass and several student mentors from Hart and Valencia high schools.
