The Santa Clarita Valley weathered a cold front that swept across Los Angeles County early Saturday morning with ease, receiving less than an inch of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
Anyone planning to travel through the mountains tonight through Monday night should prepare for winter conditions, the statement said.
Today’s high is expected to reach 62, with a 40 percent chance of rainfall throughout the evening. Tonight’s low is expected to hover around 44, with winds of 5 to 10 mph blowing from the southeast.
Monday’s chance of rain will increase to 80 percent, as showers and a thunderstorm are expected to cross the SCV before 4 p.m. Monday’s low is to be 41.
There were no reports of power outages in the Santa Clarita Valley Saturday, but downed power lines caused brief electricity outages in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Malibu.
With yesterday’s rain came an uptick of vehicle accidents and collisions, and the California Highway Patrol responding to 315 wrecks by 9 a.m. Saturday, according to CHP records.
