Questions that remain

Our hearts go out to the family. We have some questions about all that happened to Jeremiah.

Why, in this day and age of technology of cell phones, did not one person who saw this run video or pictures on their cameras? You see pictures on the news all the time of things that are going on and sent to news channels or put on Web sites. Does the school have a site that the students can text to the teachers or administration of the school?

This would have showed the abuse that Jeremiah faced on a daily basis. As to why he did it on school grounds, maybe he wanted to have the kids see the damage that they caused. Maybe he wanted the ones who taunted to know the pain and ask "why didn't I stop?" They will be reminded each day as they go into the boys' bathroom of the harm that they caused. For the ones who are saying, "We were only horsing around," I hope you have finally realized that for every action there is a reaction.

This is something you and your classmates will have to remember the rest of your lives. I hope that others who have been quietly sitting on the sidelines will finally step up to the plate and stop harassment before another life is taken. Jeremiah didn't deserve this. At least he has found peace and is with a loving God.

To the family, God bless you.
