Velocity Sports Performance hosts its inaugural Corporate Combine Challenge at 11 a.m. on Nov. 23 with all proceeds benefiting Special Olympics Santa Clarita Valley.

Participants will be challenged in four events including the 40-yard dash, 5-10-5 Pro Agility Shuttle, the Powerball Throw and vertical jump.

Competitors receive an overall Nike SPARQ Score, which determines the champions of the 2008 Corporate Combine Challenge.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams as well as the top male and female individual participants.

"We invite the local companies and individuals to get their best athletes together and enjoy the day's events," Laura Mayo, regional director for Special Olympics Santa Clarita Valley, said in a statement. "This is the opportunity to see how you rate against the pros and your friend and colleagues. And best of all, proceeds from this fun and challenging event will go directly to benefit Special Olympics Santa Clarita Valley."

The idea for the competition is inspired by the NFL Scouting Combine held annually in Indianapolis. The event brings together the top college football players in the country to test their talents to NFL coaches and scouts.

Those interested in competing must put together a team of five athletes and all members must be at least 18 years old. Participants will be invited to a Combine Prep Clinic at Velocity Sports Performance. To sign up or for more information contact Velocity Sports Performance at (661) 294-4000 or Laura Mayo at lmayo@sosc.org.
