Valencia High graduate and local softball superstar Jordan Taylor was named to the 2012 USA Softball Women's National Team.

The Amateur Softball Association made the announcement on Wednesday.

The 2007 National High School Coaches Association High School Softball Player of the Year and Gatorade California State Player of the Year will compete at the International Softball Federation (ISF) Women's World Championship in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada between July 13 and 22.

Taylor, who won a national championship in 2007 for Valencia and established the single-season Santa Clarita Valley record for strikeouts (416 in 2006) and best season record in state history (32-0 in 2007), also had a stellar career at the University of Michigan.

She was a three-time NFCA All-American and set school records for appearances (162), wins (107), strikeouts (1,220) and no-hitters (eight) at Michigan.

The 2007 Valencia High graduate was a member of the 2011 USA Softball Women's National Team and won gold medals in the 2011 World Cup of Softball in July in Oklahoma City and the 2011 Pan American Games in October in Guadalajara, Mexico.
