Available Monday through Friday at the SCV Senior Center in Newhall. Meals are also available when you call one day ahead at Bouquet Canyon Seniors, Monday through Friday, (661) 513-9479, and available Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Masonic Lodge in Friendly Valley (661) 299-4595.

Activities

The SCV Senior Center is located at 22900 Market St., Newhall. For a detailed monthly calendar, call the center at (661) 259-9444. All the following activities will occur at the SCV Senior Center, 1 p.m., in rooms A1-A2 unless otherwise indicated.

Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m., blood-pressure checks held, Activity Room 6.

Jan. 11 — Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital presents “Mixing Medications — What You Need to Know” with Stan Asarch, pharmacist clinical coordinator. Attendees encouraged to bring a current list of their prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines and supplements.

Jan. 18 — The Alzheimer’s Assocation presents “Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease: The Basics.” Seniors and family caregivers/adult children encouraged to attend.

Jan. 18 — Audiology hearing clinic with Patrice Rifkind of Audiology Associates, 11 a.m.-noon, Supportive Services Mobile

Issues in aging
