Free workshop on reducing stress

The Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley will host a free women’s workshop on “Creating Wellness – Handling Stress and Taking Care of You” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at Desert Streams Church, 26873 Ruether Ave., Canyon Country.

The presenter will be Zontian Karen Maleck-Whiteley, co-owner of Balance Point Spa. She is a certified hypnotherapist with more than 25 years of coaching experience. 

The workshop is part of Zonta’s LifeForward series focused on helping local women become the best they can be.

Free child care for participants who register before Jan. 14 (at least one week in advance) will be provided by Single Mothers Outreach, which is located in the same complex.

Zonta’s LifeForward workshops meet a critical need in the Santa Clarita Valley. The workshops are designed for women who are underserved, in need, or at risk.

The goal of the program is to foster economic independence and self-sufficiency.

Experienced instructors cover a variety of topics.

In 2011 the workshops covered a variety of topics including: Finding the right job, resume writing, workplace success, interviewing skills, managing money, creating nutritious meals, communications and relationship skills and credit.

The LifeForward workshops are party of the Zonta Club’s committment to improve the status of women in the SCV.
