Jam For Jesus 2011 took place at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Dec. 20 to mark the 20th anniversary of the annual free Christmas concert.

Over its history, Jam for Jesus has developed a loyal following and played to packed houses since 1992. Many concertgoers describe this unique event as central in their Christmas worship, and some patrons even fly in or drive hundreds of miles just to attend.

So just what is a Jam For Jesus? Basically, it the gathering of about 25 world-class musicians and vocalists, offering their gifts to the newborn king of kings.

The audience was given a “behind the scenes” feel with musical styles ranging from Bach to rock, gospel to jazz.

One thing that sets this musical night apart is that each band member is an artist in his or her own right. Performers take turns showcasing their talents and lifting the Lord in song.

The 2.5-hour show was coordinated by Robby Robinson, music director, keyboardist and arranger for Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons for the past 34 years. Robinson also serves as the worship leader at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Castaic.
