The William S. Hart High School Show Choir program, led by choral director Gail Hart, has a long and successful history of highly attended programs and award winning competition appearances.

The first concert of the 2008-09 school year for the show choirs included performances by the Hart Breakers, Sweet Harts, Hart ‘n Soul and Sound Vibrations during the three night program. In addition, the Mixed Choir performed a medley of songs during the concert's first night of performances. The noncompetition Men's Ensemble lit up the stage with the signature song from "Rent" as the pre-intermission closing number each of the three nights.

The Thursday, Friday and Saturday night performances each featured a slightly different mix of music highlighting show tunes and choral music with a live band that included Leslie Garman, David Ewart, David Fry, Jason Mickalski, Kevin Roberts and Emilio Terranova.

Hart said her participation in an European choral concert tour this past summer encouraged her to include choral tunes in the Fall Concert - in addition to the traditional show tunes.

"I know you'll love this music as much as I do," Hart said.

Costumed and choreographed production numbers from "Mary Poppins," "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "Miss Saigon" and the "Hunchback of Notre Dame" were audience favorites. Mary Rosebrock served as costumer with Elyse Fairchild and Gerald Espinosa as choreographers.

Another highlight of the program was Ewart - a noted professional violinist who survived a Valencia house fire in 2005 - who appeared onstage with the Hart Breakers as they performed the choral selection "Festival Sanctus."
