District winter

voucher program

What: The Hart school district provides blankets, coats and hygiene items to homeless students and their families through a voucher program. More than 300 students are in need this year.

Need: Monetary donations payable to Hart District Homeless (Tax ID #95-6001532), gently used adult coats, blankets and toiletries.

Where: Drop off at Hart district office, 21515 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita, 91350. (Checks can be mailed.)

Troops in Afghanistan

What: Care packages and fundraising for the troops

Need: Granola bars, beef jerky, white and black cotton sport socks, canned ravioli with pop tops, three-blade razors, international phone cards (AT&T only), AA/AAA batteries, winter scarves. Cash donations are accepted to cover shipping. Cars, boats and RVs can also be donated to raise funds. Cellphones may be donated to be reconditioned and given to the troops.

Where: Items can be dropped off at 21609 Oak Orchard Road, Newhall; 23510 Cherry St., Newhall; 23667 Via Delfina, Valencia, or at donation boxes at Santa Clarita Valley Albertson’s, Ralphs, Vons Pavilions. Monetary donations can be made to: Prayer Angels for the Military, 21609 Old Orchard Road, Newhall or through PayPal online.
