West Creek Academy’s Parent-Teacher Association and the student-run Leadership Team joined together with ABC News and the Los Angeles firefighters to help support the Spark of Love Toy Drive. West Creek Academy families collected new, unwrapped toys and sports equipment for Southern California children.
Students and their parents recently drove to Westfield Topanga Mall to deliver and stuff a bus full of toys with Garth Kemp from Channel 7 ABC News.
Students of Cate Muro’s Glee Club also performed some holiday songs that they had been working on for the crowd to bring on the holiday cheer.
“We can certainly teach our children the lessons on giving, but how much more powerful is it that our children are actually doing the work,” Principal Cory Pak said. “It only takes a spark to get a fire going, and we will benefit from its warmth.”
