After 20 years of service at Santa Clarita polling places, Marion Terry of Canyon Country will say goodbye to her duties as inspector Tuesday.

"She's just a terrific lady," said Annette Burns, who has worked the polls with Terry for about eight years. "She does this 13 hours day every election with grace and dignity. She takes her duties very seriously."

Every year but one since 1987, Terry worked at numerous community polling places including those stationed at La Mesa Junior High, Whites Canyon Rd., fire stations and most frequently, Canyon Springs Community Elementary School.

In 1989, she was asked to be an inspector, and has assumed that position ever since.

But Terry feels it is time to move on.

"I just turned 80, so I think its time to quit," she said. "I've enjoyed it but I get more tired every year. It's a great job and you get to meet a lot of nice people."
