Reacting to a tip, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station deputies swarmed a Newhall parking lot and arrested four males for investigation of vehicle burglary early Monday.

Two of the suspects allegedly have ties to a local gang, a sheriff's deputy said.

An informant tipped sheriff's deputies to four suspicious-looking men roaming a parking lot in the 23600 block of Meadow Ridge Drive at about 2:30 a.m. Monday, said Sgt. Ron Price of the SCV Sheriff's Station.

"The informant heard breaking glass," Price said. Deputies swarmed the parking lot and captured Louis Rincon, 20 of Newhall, and Islam Tantawy, 21 of Newhall, and two juveniles ages 15 and 17. Deputies did not release the names of the juveniles.

The suspects are accused of burglary for breaking into four cars and stealing items from the vehicles, Lt. Brenda Cambra said.

Two of the suspects are alleged associates of the "Newhall 13" gang, Price said.

"Newhall 13" is a multi-generational gang in the Santa Clarita Valley with a history dating back more than 20 years, Cambra said.

It is still unknown if this crime is connected to two other recent crimes.

"Detectives are still working this case to determine whether this crime is connected to two other car thefts in the area," Cambra said.

Rincon and Tantawy are held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. Rincon is held without bail and Tantawy is held in lieu of $20,000 bail.

The two juveniles were transferred to the Sylmar Juvenile Detention Center, Cambra said.
