Friday - Denny's breakfast at 9 a.m., return to complex as 10:30 a.m.

Senior Center movie
The Santa Clarita Senior Center will show "Some Like it Hot" at 2:15 p.m. Nov. 12 at 22900 Market Street, Newhal. Donation, $1, popcorn, 25 cents, free parking. (661) 259-9444.

Alzheimer's education program
Summerhill Villa and the Alzheimer's Association will host a free community education program "Alzheimer's, my mom, our journey" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 13 at 24431 Lyons Ave. (661) 254-9933.

Duplicate bridge game in Castaic
There will be a duplicate bridge game every Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. The games will be held at the Castaic Regional Sports Complex until the new addition is completed at the Senior Center in Newhall. For more information, call (661) 803-2266.

Senior Center rummage sale
The SCV Senior Center will host a monthly rummage sale on the first Tuesday and Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Items may be donated on the preceding Friday and Monday each month at 8 a.m. All funds raised benefit the SCV Senior Center.

Come Sing the Oldies
You are invited to join the Santa Clarita Silvertone Singers & Rhythm Review every Monday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Bouquet Canyon Senior Living Facility (rec. room), 26705 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus. For more information call (661)296-3321.

Flu shots at the SCV Senior Center
Free flu shots will be administered at the SCV Senior Center on Nov. 14 from 9 to 11 a.m. The shots will be given to individuals who are at high risk for flu. That category includes: People 65 and older; adults with health conditions such as asthma, or other chronic disorders of the pulmonary or cardiovascular systems; pregnant women; and people who required regular medical follow-up or hospitalization during the preceding year due to diabetes, kidney disease, blood disorders, immunosuppression, or other chronic illnesses. Beginner Polynesian Dance
A Beginner Polynesian Dance class is offered at the SCV Senior Center on Mondays from 3-4 p.m. The class instructor is Winona Platenberg. The cost for the class is $3 for seniors and $6 for non-seniors. Call (661) 259-9444 to sign up; reservations requested but not required.

H.I.C.A.P. Counseling
The local H.I.C.A.P. Counselor, Bob Hill, has announced new hours. First Monday of each month, 10 a.m.-noon; second and fourth Mondays of each month, 1-3 p.m. at the SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market Street, Santa Clarita. Services are free of charge. H.I.C.A.P. is short for Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program and is part of the Los Angeles City and County Area Agencies on Aging. The group provides volunteer counselors to help seniors and the disabled with eligibility, sorting through the ever-growing number of programs, and maximizing their use of Medicare. Arts and Crafts Classes
Calligraphy: Wednesday, 1-2:30 p.m.
Group Crafts: Monday, 9 a.m. - noon
Mixed Media: Tuesday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., Thursday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Oil Painting: Monday, 6:30-9:30 p.m.; Wednesday, 9 a.m.-noon
Watercolor: Tuesday, 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Beginners welcome. Senior citizen introductory rate: $40 for three workshops plus materials fee.
Non-Senior rate: $75 for three workshops plus materials fee.
Materials fee new students: $35 + tax - includes rice-paper, Chinese brush (to keep), 1 box of 12 Chinese watercolors (to keep), Special Felt (to keep), Chinese ink, specialty watercolors, and instructional hand-outs. Materials fee for returning students: $15 + tax.

AARP Driver Safety Program
The AARP Driver Safety Program hosts Driver Safety Training the second Friday, 2-6 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. of the month at the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, 22900 Market St., Newhall. Four-hour refresher classes are also being offered on a Saturday of alternate months for those who have completed the AARP eight-hour within the past three years. These courses cover the rules of the road as well as safe driving strategies. Completion of either of these classes will earn each participant a three year certificate, and for drivers 55 and over, an auto insurance credit. Blood Pressure Clinic first, second and fourth Wednesday of each month.
Free blood pressure screening takes place in activity room 3 each Wednesday from noon-1 p.m.
Free diabetes screening with Lori Ann Robinson, MARD, noon-1 p.m. last Wednesday of every month.

Educational & Technical Training
Archeology and Anthropology: Wednesday, 9:30-11:10 a.m. with Fred Rice of USC and Cal State Northridge.
Computer Training (Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced in Windows and
Mac): Call the Center for Information.
Computer Training for the Visually Impaired: Monday, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Friday, 12-2 p.m.

Functional Fitness
At 8:30 a.m. M-W-F, we're movin' and groovin', steppin' and sweatin' to the beat with ACE Certified Exercise Specialist Linda Bennett.
We're the new and improved "middle age" 50+ active adults. The program encompasses functional fitness - moves are designed to simulate ADLs (activities of daily living), and sports moves like golf, tennis, and skiing. We do cardiovascular training, muscle and bone building, core stabilization, and spatial awareness for balance - all within one hour. If you're not quite ready for the fast and furious fitness, at 9:45 a.m. there is a great 30-minute chair class that will suit you. Call the Senior Center at (661) 259-9444.
