It is now less than a month before we ring in 2012. Do you have your New Year’s Eve plans set?

The Signal’s Holiday Light Tour

Do you have the most awesome holiday lights in the Santa Clarita Valley? How about your street? Now is your chance to become famous (a little) and be known as the Potentate of Power or the Sultan of Streetlights in the SCV. Enter The Signal’s annual Holiday Light Tour and win a restaurant gift certificate.

The Signal’s jolly band of judges will be touring the homes of those who entry the annual holiday lighting contest on Saturday. To enter send an email to: Escape@the-signal.com. You can also find an entry form in Friday’s Escape.

Deadline for entry is Friday at 4 p.m. Give us your name, address, phone number and the bribes that judges can expect.

New Year’s Eve in the SCV

I understand there are two great New Year’s Eve events in the SCV this year. Known for hosting one of the best New Year’s Eve parties in Santa Clarita, the Repertory East Playhouse is reprising this colorful celebration for the sixth year with Carnivale di Venezia NYC on Dec. 31.

Held at the REP theatre located in Old Town Newhall, the festivities begin at 8 p.m., with revelers asked to don formal wear and Carnivale-themed masks. This year the evening will have a distinct “Big Apple” vibe as revelers will be transported to the iconic sites and experiences of New York City, including a midnight countdown and ball drop in Times Square. Tickets can be purchased online at www.repeastplayhouse.org or by calling (661) 288-0000. The Repertory East Playhouse is located at 24266 Main St. in Newhall, CA. 91321.

Swing into the New Year with Circle of Hope

Circle of Hope Inc. will host a New Year’s Eve gala at Robinson Ranch Clubhouse 7 p.m.- midnight. The evening will feature a swing band, champagne toast, buffet dinner and casino. Tickets are $100 each. For information, visit www.circleofhopeinc.org or call (661) 254-5218.

Tree lighting at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital
Santa will help usher in the holiday season with his arrival at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital’s 26th annual Community Tree Lighting Festival 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at 23845 McBean Parkway, Valencia. The tree will be lit at dark, approximately at 5 p.m. A free festival with music, entertainment and holiday activities including a cookie decorating station, letters to Santa, children’s holiday crafts and refreshments will be held prior to the tree lighting.
