Tough day for The Master’s

Sierra Goff took three shots, two on goal, but no one from The Master's was able to score as Point Loma rolled on to victory, the shutout preserved by two separate goalkeepers.

Cissy Butler and Wendy Espejel each played flawless halves in net.

Point Loma received goals from Tomie Graham and Jennifer Tan and racked up 13 total shots.
The loss drops The Master's to 10-7 overall and 5-5 in league.

Scoring a late goal in the second half, Point Loma was able drop The Master's behind the play of Anthony Mercuriali and Dauch Jock, each putting the ball in the back of the net.

Jacob Marchesani scored midway through the second half, getting on the board off a deflection.

The loss drops The Master's to 10-2-4 overall and 5-2-3 in league.

Despite strong play from Jenna Kapuscinski who recorded eight kills and 12 digs, The Master's dropped three straight sets, losing to Point Loma 18-25, 20-25 and 16-25 on Saturday.

Leslie Windham tallied 19 digs and Tanya Bekendam racked up seven kills in other notable performances for The Master's.

The loss brings their record to 9-15 overall and 3-13 in league.

College Women's Basketball
Southern Nazarene 72, The Master's 67


Amanda Durocher made seven three-pointers on Saturday, but it was not enough as The Master's College lost a close one to Southern Nazarene University.

Durocher scored 29 points to lead the Mustangs, while Annie Gillespie added 14 points.

Stacy Nanninga nearly wrapped up a double-double as she scored nine points and hauled in 14 rebounds.
Southern Nazarene was led in points by Logan Martin, who scored 20. Lana Keith added 18 points, Kinzie Glover had 13.
