You can run but you can't drive

Roads will be closed around Valencia today as more than 3,000 runners take off on the 13th annual Santa Clarita Marathon.

The race, which kicks off at 7 a.m., is a qualifying race for the more famous Boston Marathon.

The 26.2-mile event starts between the Hyatt Valencia and Westfield Valencia Town Center, returning to that location for the finish line.

For the less ambitious, the 13.1-mile Half Marathon and the 5K Run/Walk also begin at 7 a.m. and finish at the mall.

A Kid K Fun Run launches at 8:30 a.m. from the mall.

Scheduled road closures or partial closures include:
n McBean from Magic Mountain to Valencia Boulevard: closed from 5 to 7:15 a.m.
n Westbound Valencia Boulevard will be detoured to Citrus Avenue to Magic Mountain: 6 to 7:15 a.m.
n Magic Mountain at Tourney Road: closed from 7 to 7:45 a.m.
n Industrial Center: Avenue Scott, Avenue Stanford, Avenue Rockefeller, Anza Drive and Avenue Hopkins: delays from 7 to 8:30 a.m.
n Newhall Ranch Road at Avenue Tibbitts and McBean: closed from 7 to 9:30 a.m.
n Copperhill Drive at McBean: one eastbound lane closed from 7 to 9:30 a.m.
n Estaban Drive: runners crossing from 7 to 11:30 a.m.
n Westfield Valencia Town Center: cinema parking structure and Auto Center Drive entrance closed from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
