This Christmas, I want a toy chopper. It’s big and has a camera. It would be awesome. I would tie stuff to it and fly away with it, chase my brothers and record everything it does.

Every Christmas, we bake so many cookies and treats.

Christmas Eve is the most teeth-grinding thing ever. You just want it to be Christmas already. Why?! It is so annoying. I should knock myself out with a hammer. It sucks! Well, bye bye. I can’t wait.

I love my family’s Christmas traditions. We always have the best food ever, like tamales, pozole, pies and champurrado. All of my family comes over to my house. The first ones to arrive are my aunt Angie and my cousins Myriam and Sammy.

We eat and play while the parents and grandparents talk. We are really excited as the night goes on, because we get to stay up until midnight and open our presents.

My mother usually stays up longer with my aunts and uncles to talk and remember all of us when we were babies. Well, the only thing that matters is having fun with my family.

My plans for the holidays are going to be great. For Christmas, we always open our stockings, then we eat our really good breakfast and then we open our wonderful presents.

After Christmas, we don’t really celebrate New Year’s, but we stay home and always have fun.

But when the holidays are over, we stay home, clean, go to school and play. The end!

P.S.: I love Christmas and I love opening presents.

I chose New Year’s because I thought it is one of the craziest and funniest holidays. I think either we are going to stay over or go to one of my cousin’s houses. In one of the houses we will still stay up until midnight and drink apple cider. I really hope we can make pumpkin pie. That is my holiday, New Year’s.

For Christmas, we start off with breakfast before we open any presents, but that’s not the reason we celebrate Christmas. We celebrate Christmas because it is the Lord’s birthday.

I don’t usually know what we eat, but I hope it is a good dinner. We usually have random activities. I can’t wait to see what happens this year. I hope this is the best year ever. I hope you have a great holiday and a whole new year.

My plans for the holidays are preparing for Christmas. The food my mom makes every year is ham, pie (she just buys it at the store), tamales and much more. Every time my mom buys pumpkin pie, it looks like it already came out from the oven.

The best part of Christmas is getting downstairs and opening your presents.

The activity my whole family does is getting three bowls and a ping-pong ball, putting it in one of the bowls and switching it around and finding the ball.

People from all around the world say happy birthday to the Lord every year on Christmas.

On Christmas, me and my family eat tamales and pie, and then we open our presents. After that, we play games and have fun with each other. Then we visit our friends and celebrate Christmas.

Grade 5

My plans for Christmas are the same every year. I go see my family, and my friend Ricardo’s birthday is on Dec. 5, so I can’t wait for Christmas.

I am going to get the iPod Touch 4G because I have the 3G, and my family and I will give each other gifts.

Robert Barajas

Grade 5

Live Oak Elementary School

This New Year’s is going to be the same thing we do every year. We get a cup full of grapes, and when they count down to zero, we start eating them really fast, and whoever finishes first gets $10. After that, we drink apple cider. Then we have dessert. We have beans, white rice, chicken, stuffing and hot dogs.

Grade 5

Every holiday, I kind of do the same thing. I go to my grandpa’s cabin or go to my cousin’s house. We eat and have dessert, stay up late and watch TV, and go to bed at 11:30 p.m. or so. In the morning, we sleep in till 9:15 a.m. or later. When we wake up, we have leftovers from dinner.

Grade 5

For Christmas, first, we go downstairs and then see what is in our stockings, and then we open presents. Then we play with some of our toys.

We get dressed and go to my grandparents’ house. We say hi and stuff. We open more presents. We eat and then we play with some of our toys. Sometimes we play some board games, and then it gets late — time to wrap things up and go home.

On Christmas Eve, my family and I go to my grandma’s house for dinner. She makes yummy turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy. There is also green-bean casserole, yams and, my favorite, green jello with pears. After we eat, we get to open our presents.

When we get home, we make hot chocolate and look at Christmas lights. We enjoy watching Christmas movies while making cookies. We then go upstairs to bed.

In the morning, it is finally Christmas Day. We rush downstairs. My family and I open all the presents. We have the best time together.

On Christmas Eve, I go to my grammy and pop’s house. We make a special Italian treat called Pizza Fritte. After we eat, we open stockings and presents. For Christmas, I usually get American Girl doll clothes and one American Girl doll.

Then I go to my aunt and uncle’s house. We eat ham, beans and potatoes. Then I play with my baby cousins Cathryn and C.J. After that, we open presents. I usually get clothes, but I’m fine with clothes because they’re pretty cute.

When I wake up, I run downstairs and see if there’s any presents. Then I go back to sleep upstairs. When I wake up, I smell monkey bread (which is basically cinnamon rolls). Then I hear my dad call breakfast. We eat and then race to the couch. When my dad and mom get to the couch, my dad gives me and my brother our first gift. We rip open all of our presents.

Next, our family we visited comes over and we play games and do other fun stuff.

Every two days before Christmas, my mom buys gifts for my family and wraps the gifts up. Then on Christmas, my family gathers up and watches TV, plays video games or plays cards. We usually order pizza or KFC. We all wait until midnight to open the presents. The youngest cousins always sleep a couple of minutes before midnight.

When we open the presents, the adults open theirs first. Next are the kids. All of my cousins are happy when they open their presents. Finally, after all the presents are opened, we all clean the trash and we all go home after.

The holidays that I celebrate are Christmas, Tamale Day and New Year’s. Well, we know what we are doing for Christmas and Tamale Day because we always make sure we do it before it happens.

All of these holidays I like because my family gets to come together and have a great time. It’s a great memory to have when your family comes together. I always do Christmas at my house every year, but it’s pretty nice to just do it at your own house. I love my family.

On Christmas Day, me and my family wake up, open our mysterious presents, then we eat breakfast, and after that we clean up my house. Forward on, we start making some juice soup, tamales, pumpkin pie and my favorite, chocolate pudding pie with ... wait for it ... marshmallows!

After all the food is all done, me and my brother go to get tables and chairs at my mom’s friend’s house.

Oh, I almost forgot, we still have to get the drinks from my grandma’s house. Then I go to my cousin’s house to show them my presents. He shows me his, then I play some Xbox 360 “Call of Duty: Black Ops” multiplayer zombies. Then we watch some TV, then we go to the park to play some basketball and ride our scooters.

Then he leaves, then I go to take a shower and get ready because everyone is about to come. When we finish eating, I play Xbox with all my cousins and uncles. Then we go to sleep when everyone leaves.

On Christmas, me and my little sister wake up really early in the morning. Then we run into our parents’ room and wake them up. Then we run downstairs to open our stockings.

Once we do that, we run to the presents under our Christmas tree. Then, when we’ve opened all of our presents, we play with them for the rest of the day.

The holidays are probably not fun to you guys, but they are fun to me because on Christmas we get a bunch of presents, like things that we actually play with, like a bunch of stuff OK, like 15 or 10 presents, man.

Some are from my grandma and grandpa, and my aunts, uncles and cousins too, and for Thanksgiving — you all ready? — I heard the whole family gets a feast at my grandma’s house. Man!

For Christmas, I am going to plan on going to my cousin’s house on Christmas or go to my grandma’s house.

If I go to my cousin’s house, we are going to play with the PS3 or Xbox 360. If I go to my grandma’s house, we are going to play games like Monopoly, Candy Land, puzzles, Chutes and Ladders, and Monopoly Express.

The food we are going to eat is pumpkin pie, tacos, and burritos at my cousin’s house. At my grandma’s house, we are going to eat tacos, chicken, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie.

All I want for Christmas is an iPhone 4, a $50 Playstation store card, a new phone and an Xbox Live gold card. The last thing I want is a new phone.

My family spends Christmas at our house and we open presents. After that, I go to my lolo’s house and we open up presents there.

Then we go to my grandma’s house. I get to see my aunt, who flies on a plane from New York to California. We always eat ham, cranberry sauce and my grandma’s mashed potatoes.

My grandma always lets me lick the potato spoon. I love being with my aunt because I never get to see her, and she only stays for three days, so I try to be with her as much as I can. We start opening presents. All I want for Christmas is my family.

Usually for Christmas, my family and I go to my cousin Valentina’s house. The whole family eats, then they start chatting. When it’s time to open the presents, we run to the carpet.

When I say “we,” I mean my cousins Gerry, Moises, Diego, Xiara, Amy and Valentina. We always dig into the presents and try to find our names on the box or on the tag.

Once I find it, I tear the paper off and see what’s inside. But my favorite part of Christmas is being with my family.

For Christmas, I always have a big party at my house with all of my family members. We usually have a feast with all kinds of food. After that, we have dessert.

For dessert, I have cookies, pie and, my favorite, pineapple upside-down cake. Then, after dessert is done, me and my cousins open our presents. Then Christmas is over.

This year for Christmas, it’s just like every year. I wake up and then wake up my older sister, then me and my sister wake up my parents by jumping on the bed. They wake up, but it takes forever. They have to go to the bathroom and get their camera.

Once they’re ready, we open our stockings first, and they’re really stuffed. We separate the presents.

We trade off — I open one, and then my sister, my mom and finally my dad each open one. And then we do it again. After we eat breakfast at my grandma’s house and open presents, then we go to my nana’s house and eat dinner and open more presents. It’s so much fun.

The day before Christmas, me and my family go to a really, really big party. When I say “big,” all of my cousins are there from my dad’s side. It is so much fun each time something breaks. Everybody screams.

We, as in my cousins, celebrate my birthday because that’s the only time we see each other, and because there are so many people there on the same day.

Today is Christmas Eve, almost Christmas. Me and my dad are putting up the lights, but we don’t know which lights don’t work.

So, first we untie all of them, then turn each one on and see if they work.

We have two kinds of lights, so if there wasn’t enough that work, we put the other lights on. Mostly the white ones work, so we put those on. Then we set up the tree.

All the ornaments were put in a box in the garage. We had a lot, so we put them in color order. Red, purple and yellow. When they were all put on, we got ready for bed and waited for someone special to come.
