Article a soft-money contribution for McKeon

The article announcing the naming of Howard “Buck” McKeon as honorary chairman of “Birdies for the Brave” is an illegal soft-money contribution by The Signal for McKeon on the eve of an election, particularly with the deliberate coverage blackout on his opponent in the general election.

But beyond that, we would not have families to care for if, while on the House Foreign Relations Committee, McKeon introduced and got the support to pass pay raises for our soldiers closer to what we are paying Blackwater and Halliburton mercenaries (many of which are former career military who took early retirements to cash in on Dick Cheney’s companies’ fat salary offers — some getting paid upwards of three times more for doing the same or similar work under contract with Halliburton), so they could pay for their own families’ needs.

We should not make our soldiers charity cases. Charities should not have to be created to fill a need the government has created.

I would support full funding of all family support needs by cutting Halliburton and Blackwater mercenary contractor salaries and giving federal tax forgiveness to soldiers under arms with families in need. While the Valencia Country Club’s efforts are noted, it should not ever been necessary.
