Cruise line voted best itineraries
Travel agent readers of Recommend magazine choose Princess Cruises as the “Best Cruise Line-Itineraries” for the fifth consecutive year. The honor recognizes Princess’ dedication to global cruising. “Bringing passengers to fascinating destinations around the world has long been one of our hallmarks,” said Jan Swartz, Princess senior vice president.

Providence earns green kudos
Providence Holy Cross Medical Center earned the Integrated Waste Management Board’s 2008 Waste Reduction Awards Program honors. The center saved 2,391 trees and diverted 17,608 cubic yards of waste from landfills this year, earning the Mission Hills hospital kudos from the state of California. The medical center was the only hospital in Southern California to win the recognition.

BioSolar files green patent

BioSolar in Santa Clarita announced the filing of a comprehensive patent for its BioBacksheet breakthrough photovoltaic solar cell technology. Backsheets, or protective coverings for photovoltaic solar cells, are typically made from expensive petroleum-based film.
