Do you wake up with stiffness and joint pain? Have you heard about osteoarthritis causing this pain and want to learn more?

If so, you may benefit from attending Antelope Valley Hospital’s (AV Hospital) next health education lecture on Joint Replacement and Protein Rich Plasma.

This free lecture will take place on Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m.

Dr. Alon Antebi, D.O., an orthopedic surgeon on staff at AV Hospital, will give the lecture.

Osteoarthritis is a form of arthritis that causes changes in bones and cartilage of joints that can erode joint surfaces. This often results in swelling, pain and stiffness of one or more joints.

“Once nonsurgical treatment options are exhausted, the decision to have joint replacement surgery is often made by many people suffering from osteoarthritis,” said Antebi.  “Advancements in technology have brought positive results to patients that relieve the pain and stiffness osteoarthritis causes.”

Antebi will explain osteoarthritis, how it is caused, nonsurgical and surgical treatment options at the lecture.

He will also discuss protein rich plasma (PRP) therapy, a safe, non-surgical, state-of-the-art technique which may be used during joint replacement surgery.

During PRP therapy, a small amount of the patient’s blood is removed and placed in a centrifuge to transform it into concentrated platelet rich gel.  Once this gel is placed on tissue at the surgical site, it speeds up the normal healing process.

“With the technology available today, patients are much more educated than they were 20 years ago,” says Edward Mirzabegian, AV Hospital Chief Executive Officer.

Antebi’s lecture will be held at 44105 15th Street West (the corner of Avenue J-5 and 15th Street West), on the 4th floor, in conference room 15, in Lancaster.  To reserve a seat, call (661) 726-6499 or send an email to communityrelations@avhospital.org.  Leave your name, contact number, and number of guests attending the lecture.
