Cameron Smyth

Name: Cameron Smyth
Age: 37
Profession: State Assemblyman

Personal Background
A lifelong resident of Newhall, I and my wife Lena continue to raise our sons in Santa Clarita.
Prior to the Assembly, I served six years as Councilman/Mayor of Santa Clarita, while operating my own consulting business.

What is/are the most important issues?
We must make every effort to turn the economy of California around.  That means we must encourage new clean industry to remain here and not raise taxes on hard-working residents.  California must also support our schools and I have opposed every effort cut education spending. We must support our law enforcement.  The security and safety of all Californians must remain a top priority.

What makes you feel qualified to serve?
My experience as your current Assemblyman, along with my time as  Councilman and Mayor enables me to return to the Capitol and continue representing the SCV and the entire 38th district effectively.  I have developed a reputation as a legislator who is interested in finding solutions.
