Gary J. Lysik

Name: Gary J. Lysik
Age: 46
Profession: City of Calabasas, Chief Financial Officer

Personal Background
A native Southern Californian, born, raised, and married in the South Bay, my wife and I made a conscious decision 17 years ago to move from the city to Santa Clarita Valley to raise our 2 sons. The valley was important to us then. It is important to us now.

What is/are the most important issues?
Because of my work as CFO for the city, it’s easy to see Castaic Lake Water Agency is bleeding money and struggling to meet its mission statement: To supply reliable, quality water at a reasonable cost to our community. The most important issue is effectiveness. It’s why citizens have lost confidence.

What makes you feel qualified to serve?
Imagine a member who runs an entire city’s finances, credited with turning the city around. But most importantly, a member with a record of refinancing Mello-Roos taxes leading to reduced tax rates for the community. That is exactly who the board would get if I’m elected into office.
