Citizens arrest made on man for allegedly cutting down tree

A Canyon Country man has been charged with illegally cutting down a tree.

Shortly before 9 a.m. Monday, someone made a citizen's arrest in connection with a tree being down and charged a man who lives on Sarabande Lane.

Under the California penal code, a person can be charged with misdemeanor illegally cutting down a tree if he or she "willfully commits a trespass by any of the following acts: ... cutting down, destroying or injuring any kind of wood timber standing or growing upon the lands of another."

The man was booked into custody with bail set at $5,000.
