Guests at the annual Celebrity Tribute Dinner hosted by Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley will find some unique auction items on the block.

This year’s dinner is scheduled for Nov. 4, at the Odyssey restaurant in Mission Hills, honoring Jim Hicken, an president of the Bank of Santa Clarita.

One auction package includes exclusive center-front VIP loge tickets to Pageant of the Master in Laguna Beach, two tickets to the accompanying Sawdust Festival, an overnight stay at a Marriott Hotel, and dinner at the Salt Creek Grill in Dana Point.

Another hard-to-get package includes four box seats at a Hollywood Bowl performance, complete with VIP parking and a picnic dinner.

Night in the Big House will give the winning bidder and 11 friends a barbecue dinner, bus tour and overnight stay at Pitchess Detention Center in a private dorm, complete with “custom bright orange pajamas” and breakfast the next morning.

Bidders also vie for a Haunted Sleepover for 20, including barbecue dinner, séance and overnight stay in a “haunted house” and breakfast the next morning.

Zonta’s signature Red, White and Blueberry Breakfast on Newhall’s annual Fourth of July Parade route also will be on the auction block, as well as a visit to a live television set and a pair of original drawings by The Signal’s late Randy Wicks.

One lucky bidder and guest will take a one-hour helicopter tour Los Angeles, complete with narrator/guide.

Other packages include amusement park tickets, season tickets to local live theater, admission to the premiere nonprofit events in the Santa Clarita Valley and restaurant gift certificates.

The evening also includes a silent auction with baskets valued from $100 to more than $500.

The packages include jewelry, movie tickets, wine and accessories, home décor, golf, a children’s pizza and miniature-golf party, beauty products, a cooking basket, restaurant gift certificates, drums, a Cowboy Festival basket and more.

A new feature at the event this year will be Mystery Boxes, which will be on sale for $10 each in the gathering time before the dinner.

Each of the colorful gift boxes will contain at least a pair of gold or silver-tone earrings, and five of the boxes will contain much more valuable pieces of jewelry.

The theme for this year’s dinner is “The Loan Ranger Rides Again,” a tribute to Hicken’s position with the Bank of Santa Clarita as well as the years he spent on a cattle ranch in Wyoming as a teen.

The Tribute Dinner is Zonta’s main fundraising event of the year and is expected to provide the largest share of funding for the club’s service projects and grants in the coming year.

Online reservations are available for $100 each at www.scvzonta.org, by clicking on “Celebrity Tribute” in the Featured Events menu. Individual seats can be ordered through the “Sponsorship Opportunities” tab.
