Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich poses with members of the William S. Hart PONY World Championship Team of Santa Clarita on Tuesday.

Young local baseball players took center stage at the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday when they were honored as members of the William S. Hart PONY World Championship Baseball Team of Santa Clarita Valley.

Sporting big smiles under bright red hats with matching red T-shirts, the boys proudly held county certificates and shook hands with Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

“Hart baseball tracks the most talented players from all over, including boys from the Antelope and San Fernando valleys,” Antonovich told them. “So we want to congratulate you all on your great victory at the world series.”

The team emerged on top at the Mustang World series in Texas this past summer.

For the second straight season, and the third time in the past five years, Hart Mustang brought the World Series title back to the Santa Clarita Valley from Texas.

The Mustang World Series was played in Burleson, which is about 15 minutes south of Fort Worth, in early August.
