A shooting Saturday afternoon and a stabbing Sunday in Canyon Country do not appear to be related, but both are under investigation, a sheriff’s official said Monday.

The stabbing occurred about 3 p.m. Sunday at a soccer game at Whites Canyon Road and Stillmore Street, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.

The shooting was in the 27200 block of Camp Plenty Road. The victim suffered only a slight grazing wound and was not hospitalized.

The shooting was suspected of being gang related and was being investigated by detectives assigned to the COBRA unit, said Sgt. Gregg Lewison, zone leader for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Canyon County area west of Sierra Highway.

Gang members were also suspected of shooting into a house near Stillmore Street in August, as well as shooting a man in Jakes Way 24 hours later.

Lewison said it wasn’t known if the three shootings were related to each other.
