A man was taken to hospital this afternoon after he was stabbed allegedly by another man at an adult soccer game in Canyon Country, local sheriff’s deputies report.

At about 3 p.m., a soccer game in the area of Whites Canyon Road and Stillmore Street ended with one man stabbing another with a pocketknife, said Lt. Tom Bryski, of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“A male about 25 was stabbed in the back,” he said. “It was apparently a knife with a one-inch or two-inch blade so it went in about an inch deep.”

The man’s wound is not believed to be life-threatening.

He was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital where he was treated, Bryski said.
