9 arrested for DUI during 24-hour period

A priest with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles is one of nine people arrested for investigation of drunken driving in the Santa Clarita Valley between Wednesday and Thursday morning.

The 37-year-old priest, who lives in Los Angeles, was pulled over by a California Highway Patrol officer about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

He was booked about 45 minutes later and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Bail was set at $15,000.

Eight others were also charged with the same offense in the Santa Clarita Valley Wednesday and early Thursday, including two unemployed men and an out-of-work woman, a 25-year-old Valencia student, a 35-year-old waiter who lives in Inglewood, a Northridge contractor age 50, a 27-year-old nursing assistant and a 44-year-old self-employed Palmdale man.

The arrests were made at different times by the CHP officers and deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.
