Oscar Dominguez, vice president of Union Bank, awarded a $1,000 cash sponsorship for the Art Classic Gala, to Santa Clarita Artists’ Association on Sept. 30 at the Lyons Avenue branch of Union Bank.

The Union Bank sponsorship of Art Classic is part of their Partnership with the Arts Program.

The Artists’ Association in return presented a Spirit of the Arts Certificate of Appreciation to Union Bank.

The 22nd Art Classic will be held 2-5 p.m. Saturday, at Hart Hall in William S. Hart Park, Newhall.

A free public viewing will be on Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“The annual Art Classic Gala is the Club’s biggest fundraiser,” said SCAA President Zony Gordon. “Local artists get to show their outstanding art and the event supports our scholarship program.”

Gordon said the fundraiser also and enables the Artists Association to provide demo artists at the organization’s monthly membership meetings.

“The demo artists are part of our ongoing art education for the community,” Gordon said. “The gala is a great spectacle for all of  the SCV. Origami lessons and face-painting will be available to kids at the free public viewing on Sunday.”

Laurie Morgan, Art Classic chairwoman, said the event sponsors are very important to the success of the fundraiser.

“We are very appreciative of Union Bank and our other Gold sponsors of our Art Classic, KHTS AM 1220, SCV-TV, Hyatt Regency Valencia and LA County Parks and Rec,” said Morgan.

Entertainment will include Gary Friedman Jazz Ensemble, Manak Khamvongsa with classical guitar and solo violinist Elana Chao.

Hors d’oeuvres will be provided by Hyatt Regency Valencia, plus wine and desserts.

There will be nearly 200 pieces of art on display including many artists’ donations to the silent auction, said Gordon.
