Do you know what you're going to be for Halloween? Halloween arrives on Friday with costumes, treats and spooky fun. However, the "ghoulish" season will soon be over and instead of pumpkins we'll be carving a turkey and decorating the tree. Where did the time go?

Last chance for Ghoul Mines
The Heritage Haunt "Curse of the Ghoul Mines" will wrap up Thursday through Saturday at Heritage Junction adjacent to the William. S. Hart Park in Newhall. Tickets are $13 to the event which runs 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and features scares aplenty. Master "haunteers" have combined the best of several popular long-running Santa Clarita Valley Halloween haunts and turned Heritage Junction into "ghost central." For more information visit

Don't tell me there's nothing to do...

Activities include school booths and displays of the district's history, a reunion booth where former staff and alumni can share memories, and food and beverages. Everyone in the SCV is invited.

'South Pacific' at COC
Is there anyone who doesn't love "South Pacific?" I adore this timeless musical of love, prejudice and bravery. The Theatre Department of College of the Canyons offers up this Rodgers and Hammerstein musical. Some of the memorible and singable music includes "Some Enchanted Evening, Younger Than Springtime," "Bali Ha'i," "There is Nothin' Like a Dame" and "A Wonderful Guy." "South Pacific" plays today 2 p.m. on the main stage at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center, at College of the Canyons, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia. Tickets: $12 or students, children and seniors $6 students. For information visit

The Wine Affair...
If you happened to stroll down Town Center Drive in Valencia Oct. 19 you might have enjoyed the music and the beautiful purple balloon grape installations marking each stop on the route of the Soroptimist International of Greater SCV Wine Affair. I was impressed with the well organized event. It's always fun to do something new, and this seemed to be well planned and well thought out. Kudos to the event co-chairs Rose Chegwin, Tamra Levine, Sheryl Geraci, Jo Ann Vindigni and Darlene Gandara.
