One of my all-time favorite events, “Sunset in the Vineyard,” will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6 at the home and Compa Vineyard of Jeannie, Chris and Tim Carpenter.

Enjoy samplings of a variety of wines, all from Santa Clarita Valley private vineyards and wine makers, great food and more. Highlights include complimentary parking, musical entertainment, raffles and silent auction items.

Proceeds benefit Assistance League philanthropic programs exclusively in the SCV, including Operation School Bell.

Tickets: www.assistanceleague-alsc.org.

Kudos to Cheri Fleming

Cheri Fleming, owner of Valencia Acura, was recently elected as Soroptimist International of the Americas Secretary/Treasurer by her fellow SIA board members at the group’s board meeting in Honolulu.
Art Classic XXII

The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association presents the Art Classic XXII, an exhibit with more than 130 pieces of art, live entertainment, complimentary wine and beverages, hors d’oeuvres and desserts, will be held 2-5 p.m. Oct. 15, Hart Hall, 24151 Newhall Ave., Newhall. Tickets: $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Dressy attire encouraged. A free public viewing is set for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Info: (661) 244-7689, www.santaclaritaartists.org.

Bunco, anyone?

An evening of Bunco, a fast-moving dice game in a lively party atmosphere, will be held 6 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Valencia Hills Clubhouse. The fundraiser is one of several events planned for October (National Breast Cancer Awareness month) that will help the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation and Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center raise awareness of the importance of mammograms for early breast cancer detection.

“People have always had a great time at Bunco, and knowing it’s all for a great cause makes it even better,” said Terry Bucknall, director of the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center. “The community can show its support of Breast Cancer Awareness and have lots of fun while doing it.”

Buy-in is $30 in advance and $40 at the door and includes beverages and appetizers. There will be plenty of prizes and raffle items. Seating is limited. Info: (661) 200-1201

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

If you’ve not scheduled your yearly mammogram, don’t put it off. Since its inception in 2003, the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center has provided more than 73,000 screenings and found 539 breast cancers through mammograms and diagnostic exams.

The breast-imaging center’s life-saving services wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of the SCV community.

To schedule your mammogram, call (661) 253-8822.
