Out of over 700 applicants nationwide Connor Cantrell has been chosen as one of only 28 drivers to compete in a three-day weekend event starting October 31st.

The goal of the event is to find the next young guns with the talent and fire to go all the way to professional racing careers in NASCAR. If they are selected to be a part of the RSWC Driver Career Development Program, they will be raced, groomed, coached, tested, trained and molded into what NASCAR Cup teams want in their drivers.

If successful Connor would be plugged into a top West Coast Stock Car or Sprint Car team for the 2009 season.

He was chosen mainly due to his recent success in the King Taco Super Truck Series where for the last two seasons - over 28 races - he compiled 22 top-ten finishes, 16 top-five, six wins and seven poles. He was 4th in points in 2007 and won Rookie of the Year honors at 16, and was second this year, only six points back of the championship.

The team, headed up by crew chief Jeff Latimer, was dominant in the series. If not for a race three incident where he ran over debris while leading the race resulting in a 20th place finish, he could have won the truck championship.
