Deputies fired at suspect Louie Moreno, 20, after he brandished a metallic object at them, investigators said Monday. Deputies believed the object to be a handgun and opened fire at Moreno but did not hit him.
Moreno was arrested Saturday at a Canyon Country apartment.
The shooting occurred after deputies tried to break up a fight Friday night at 18257 Soledad Canyon Road. Four men were fighting in a parking lot there, and as deputies approached, they saw one of them swing a large metallic object at the head of another individual. The one with the object was later identified as Moreno.
The suspect was being held Monday on an assault-with-a-firearm charge. Bail was set at $50,000.
No deputies or suspects were injured in the shooting.
