Motorcyclist injured in crash

A motorcyclist was taken by helicopter to hospital Thursday after crashing his dirt bike near a power plant at Castaic Lake.

The man, whose identity has not been released, suffered serious head injuries, according to reports from the California Highway Patrol.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. Thursday, the CHP received a report that a dirt bike rider had crashed his vehicle into a power lines on Templin Highway just east of the power plant operated by Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

CHP officers and paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department trying to locate the motorcyclist eventually found him on Castaic Canyon Road near the power plant.

The man was reportedly flown to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
