A knife-wielding robber who reportedly slashed his victim's body and left him for dead on a Newhall street earlier this week was still on the loose Friday and being sought local detectives.

About 1:10 a.m. Tuesday, a man was reported to have been waiting for his girlfriend outside her residence on Costa Brava when he was approached by another man, according to the report logged by deputies of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

The man walked up to the victim, who was standing in front of his girlfriend's apartment, and ordered him to hand over money.

When the victim said he didn't have a wallet, the attacker pushed him against the wall, pulled out a six-inch knife and slashed him, the deputies' report said.
After the man fell to the ground, the suspect pulled his wallet out and ran away.

When the victim's girlfriend arrived about 30 minutes later, she found her boyfriend bleeding on the ground and called 911. The man was taken to the hospital.

Detectives said the victim was slashed on the chest, stomach and left forearm.
