The William S. Hart High School's award-winning marching band and colorguard, Hart Regiment, won the "Tournament Grand Champion" title at the Artistry in Motion Field Show Tournament held Oct. 11 at Riverside Community College.
It was the first time Hart Regiment performed the show, "Solaris" in its entirety. The performance earned a total of 84.05 points from judges. In addition to receiving the top award among the 20-plus bands in the competition, Hart Regiment received the high visual award and placed second for colorguard performance in the 4A band category.
"This is a great way to start the competition season," Anthony Bailey said. Bailey is the Hart High band director. "We're looking forward to performing our show at the Bands of America regional competition in Las Vegas later this month and defending our state champion title in December."
In 2007, Hart Regiment was named state champion in its division by the Southern California School Band & Orchestra Assn. (SCSBOA) for the sixth consecutive year - an accomplishment that remains unmatched by any other group.
