A student’s outlook

There's been a lot of talk lately about Measure SA by prominent community figures and influential groups, but many voters haven't heard any opinions of students.

So, as a sophomore at Saugus High, I am whole-heartedly supporting Measure SA.

Saugus High has a beautiful, modernized new campus that was funded through Measure V in 2001. It gives us students a place to attend school that we're proud of, and it creates a sense of morale that motivates every student, including me, to work harder toward individual goals.

The proof is in Saugus API scores this year, with an amazing score of 807.

Right now, students at three William S. Hart Union High School District schools don't have a campus to be proud of.

Students at Hart High, Placerita Junior High, and Sierra Vista Junior High face dilapidated schools that are not only aesthetically displeasing, but they have fallen into a state of disrepair.

Seeing all of the good Measure V has done for Saugus, I want these three schools to reap the benefits of a beautiful and safe campus.

Not only would SA renovate those schools, it would reduce overcrowding throughout the Hart district by building a high school in Castaic.

To think that Saugus could potentially have 3,100 students in the future is frightening. Right now, I'm receiving a fantastic education at Saugus.

I have dedicated and passionate teachers and I don't want to see that quality of education go down because of overcrowding.

Not only do I want people in Castaic to get the high school they need and to have schools that need repairs to get them, but I also want to continue to receive the great education that I've gotten so far while at Saugus.

That's why I'm supporting Measure SA as a student. I hope that you'll join me in supporting every Hart district student's education, including my own.
