Burbank hospital to hold 9/11 remembrance today

Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center will hold a remembrance today for those who died during the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Among the nearly 3,000 people who died in the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and on the four hijacked airplanes was Dr. Yeneneh Betru, who practiced at the hospital.

Dr. Betru had just returned from Ethiopia with his fiancee following their traditional betrothal ceremony, a spokeswoman for the hospital said. He left his fiancee with her sister and boarded American Airlines Flight 77 to return to work in Burbank.

Flight 77 was flown into the Pentagon, killing 118 people.

The ovservance of the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. today in the main lobby of the hospital, 501 S. Buena Vista Street in Burbank.
