The Santa Clarita City Council only chose and appointed pro-open space people to the open space oversight panel. What a surprise!

The reasonable and informed opponent to the open space initiative, Jim Farley, was rejected. My bet is that he never had a chance from the onset; to wit, the entire initiative's process.

That is, the lopsided, weighty vote given to developers, the secretiveness of the money collected to push the initiative, the mail ballot, the claims of "less traffic" while the council promotes facilities and events to attract yet more traffic to the community, and so on.
